Skin Health

Skin HealthDid you know that your skin is your body’s largest organ? It is also your first line of defense against harmful bacteria, germs, viruses, and anything else you may come in contact with. Keeping your skin vibrant and healthy can be a commitment but is definitely worth it, and we are here to help every step of the way.

Important Practices for Maintaining Healthy Skin

Protection from the Sun

Did you know that excessive sun exposure can lead to wrinkles? A daily moisturizer with sunscreen should be your best friend all year round as it can do wonders in preventing dark spots from forming as well as reduce the effects of aging.

When in direct sunlight, be sure to wear a hat and sunglasses. Sunglasses will help prevent you from squinting too much as squinting can lead to the development of crow’s feet.

Sunscreen is a powerful weapon against the sun and a great defense in preventing skin cancer. Without sunscreen, those UV rays can do irreparable damage to your skin. Apply sunscreen all year round. We recommend an SPF of 30 or higher with UVA protection. Be sure to reapply every four hours if you know you will be outside for a while.

Establish A Routine

Establish a proper daytime and night routine and stick to it. Be sure to determine your skin type (oily, dry, combination, normal, or sensitive) and choose skin care products that are tailored to your skin type. Keep in mind that as the seasons change you may need to adjust your products to adapt to your skin’s needs.

It is okay to simplify your skincare routine. Less is more. Using too many products constantly can irritate and tire your skin, so be sure to focus on the basics now and then. A gentle cleanser and moisturizer should be your tried and true.

Applying a topical retinoid before you sleep may also help in keeping your skin feeling refreshed. Retinoids contain Vitamin A and will help nourish your skin and remove unwanted spots and superficial skin lines.

Moisturize

Applying moisturizing cream or lotion to your face and body at night will help replace daily moisture loss and prevent your skin from becoming dry overnight and developing a worn, tired look.

Hydrate yourself as well! Sometimes the simplest actions yield the greatest benefits. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day is a great way to moisturize your precious skin.

Another great way to keep yourself looking refreshed is to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Find healthy ways to manage stress as stress can lead to breakouts and other problems that can affect your skin.

Check Your Skin Regularly

Conduct a thorough self-examination by looking at your body in a full-length mirror. Check your front, back, and sides with your arms raised. Be sure to scan over your forearms, underarms, palms, and elbows. Don’t forget to check your legs, toes, and soles of your feet. A hand mirror can help you examine other areas such as your neck, scalp, back, and buttocks.

Look for any asymmetrical shapes, uneven skin, spots with bumpy borders, different colored areas, or spots that might be changing in size, shape, and color. Spots larger than the size of a pencil eraser should be examined, but even smaller spots can be worth a look.

Our Skin Care Services

Even if you have practiced good skincare tips for years such as washing your face regularly or following a proper skincare regimen, you may notice your skin beginning to show early signs of aging, uneven skin tone, and sun damage. If you are looking to fight the signs of aging, refresh your appearance, or remove unwanted blemishes discreetly, you may want to consider cosmetic treatment.

At Transform Your Health, our skincare services include microneedling, dermal fillers, IV therapies, and more so that we can best help you achieve your needs and desires.

Skincare IV Therapies

These IV treatments contain specialized formulas of beneficial IV fluids, vitamins, nutrients, and electrolytes to help rejuvenate your skin from the inside. With IV therapies, many patients are able to reduce signs of aging, wrinkles, dull skin tone, and acne. We even provide detox treatments to flush out toxins and radicals that may be affecting your skin, hair, and nails. These treatments can be customized to suit your needs and skincare goals. Our anti-aging infusion regimen is the ‘gold standard’ way to maintain your energy and turn the clock back. You will notice supple and smoother skin with a restored, radiant glow.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Dermal fillers help to reverse signs of aging by restoring fullness and volume to the facial area without surgical intervention. These minimally invasive procedures provide effective results that last for months. Today, many of these fillers contain hyaluronic acid which is a natural substance present in your body that helps your skin to stay hydrated and plump. As we age, our bodies may begin to produce less and less. These facial fillers moisturize and rejuvenate your skin’s appearance by restoring volume and fullness to your cheeks and lips as well as improve facial contours.

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators work by blocking signals from the nerve to targeted muscles preventing the muscle from contracting or tightening. This causes the muscle to relax, softening the appearance of lines and creases allowing the patient to achieve the desired goal. There are many neuromodulator injections on the market, all containing the same active ingredient of botulinum toxin.
Examples of neuromodulators on the market include Dysport and Botox.

It is important to note that neuromodulators are not the same as dermal fillers. Dermal fillers, as the name suggests, fill wrinkles, lines, and creases while neuromodulators only affect lines or creases caused by muscle contraction. Some wrinkles and signs of aging are caused by sun damage or gravity and may not respond to injections.

These are just a few of the skin care services we provide. The results of treatment will vary depending on the procedure used, desired goal, and condition of the patient before treatment. Our goal is to help you look and feel better while providing natural, long-lasting results. During your consultation, we can discuss your skin type, how best to care for your skin, and what treatments will work best for your needs and goals.
